Frank Barnwell
The Barnwell Family History goes far back and beyond the BARNWELL name. It is a whole tree of branches that connect to the Barnwell legacy through marriages and unions. For this purpose we will go back to Anthony & Sarah Barnwell, parents of David, Lee, Paul, James, Freddy, Philip, Elijah, Nathaniel, Harriet, Wilhelmina and Mary in which most went on to have families of their own.
Anthony Barnwell was born 1857 in Dale, South Carolina. His wife Sarah (Marion) Barnwell, of Colleton County SC, was born in 1869. Anthony and Sarah married in 1887. Anthony Barnwell's parents were Frank and Rebecca Barnwell, born 1820 & 1830 respectfully.

In 1900, Anthony Barnwell purchased Half Moon Island, a beautiful private family retreat tucked on the outskirts of Dale, South Carolina. He later would purchase other plots of land in SC which he left all of his land to his children. The Barnwell family members still owns and resides on it today!
Anthony Barnwell had a short life living only to the age of 52 after passing away in 1909. Who knows what else he would have acquired!

Many years and changes later Paul Barnwell’s son, David Barnwell went on to acquire Half Moon Island and became the sole owner. David Barnwell met and married Susie (Simmons) Barnwell. From that union they had 11 children. Half Moon Island became their home for the remainder of their lives.
